Minecraft CPU Benchmarks: 2024 Update

Published: Apr. 14, 2024

Welcome to the semi-regular (yearly?) Minecraft benchmarking article - detailing the performance of various Minecraft versions across a wide range of CPUs!

Getting all of these things in for testing isn't cheap, and if you'd like to help in some way and enable me to get new hardware closer to release, feel free to get in touch with me via Twitter/X, Discord or Email.

Testing Methodology

I tested the following 6 Minecraft versions:

Each version was tested 3 times and the resulting data was averaged together to produce average framerate and 1% low framerate. The 1% low framerate is the worst 1% of frametimes encountered during the runs, in a sense it is a measure of how laggy the game is.

System Configurations

All of the test systems used as similar hardware as possible, the CPU being the main thing changing. All systems used a fresh install of Windows 11 and the same NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 GPU.
